Founder and owner, Priscilla Parris, PKBP, has been designing kitchens since 1986. Priscilla has a Bachelor of Science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly) in Home Economics Interior Design (1989).

She is a Professional Kitchen and Bath Planner, PKBP, ASID, NKBA, and San Juan Capistrano Rotary member. She also won the 2014 and 2015 Best of Houzz design award.

She is very familiar with doing complex kitchen space planning and design. There are many elements to producing a fabulous kitchen but two key points about the selected designer are experience in the trade and following the 5 Phases of Design.

Priscilla has designed/supervised 100’s of kitchens over the past 27 years so she has plenty of hands-on experience on job sites. She also follows the Well Known 5 Phase Design Process. This process assures the clients of a professional result everytime.

I. Programming
II. Schematic Design
III. Design Development
IV. Contract Documentation
V. Contract Administration

This is a 56 step process which is necessary in order to have a successful kitchen or bath remodel. Phase two: or Schematic Design Development is where the “MAGIC” happens in the process.

This is the key important portion of the creative process where vast past experience and a good knowledge of new materials and appliances, drive the design’s result from ordinary results to extraordinary results. Clients refer designers when their old kitchen spaces are transformed to beautiful well functioning rooms that add value to the home and this is where The Kitchen Lady excels over her competition.

Her Mission Statement is simply said in one word: LADY!!!

L Listen!…… to needs
A Analyze!… the space
D Design!….. balancing Form vs. Function

Having grown up in the Kitchen Business, Priscilla’s parents owned a 50,000 square foot showroom warehouse called Quesco Cabinet Supply located in Northern California (BELMONT) which was the largest distributor of cabinets in California during the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Priscilla studied abroad for nearly a year all over Europe and extensively studied design and architecture in both high school and college in all of the following countries: Denmark, Sweden, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, England, Scotland, Morocco, Yugoslavia and in South America. Visiting all of these interesting and historic Countries has given Priscilla a vast knowledge base for designing in the many the different types of design and styles of kitchens and baths, such as: English Country Kitchens, French Country Kitchens, Transitional styled kitchens, Tuscany styled Kitchens and many more styles to numerous to add…

After the family sold the business in 1991, Priscilla designed kitchens at The Kitchen Warehouse in Los Angeles until 1993. Late in 1995, Priscilla started a company called Kitchen En-Counter and she ran that business for 11 years and then sold it right before the market crashed, in October of 2008.

Now Priscilla feels that it is not necessary to manage/own huge and costly showrooms, which get outdated quickly. Due to the intricacies of the design field, she now prefers to meets the clients, take measurements, do the preliminary designs and then do the actual design herself.

She has no assistants who often are known for making costly errors. She manages all aspecs of the remodel herself, which is why she really is “THE KITCHEN LADY.”

The Kitchen Lady is a unique and small showroom/studio located In San Juan Capistrano which sells as many products as other larger’s showrooms at a fraction of the cost. The showroom sells the following: cabinets, countertops, backsplashes, appliances, lighting, fans, tile, and the design it self. Please feel free to make an appointment or have Priscilla come to your home for a free estimate!
